Flagaholic has been printing custom flags since 2006. This page walks through what actually happens between the moment a customer sends a logo and the moment a finished flag leaves the building.

Every job starts as a design file. Vector artwork (AI, EPS or PDF) is ideal because it stays sharp at flag scale; high-resolution JPG or PNG files also work. We convert the file to CMYK for print, check the smallest detail that will survive at the finished size - fine text is the usual casualty - and mirror the artwork where the construction needs a reverse print. If a design needs help, our free artwork design service sorts it before anything is printed, and every order includes a proof to approve.

The artwork is printed with dye-sublimation inks onto polyester. Under heat, the ink turns to gas and bonds with the fabric fibres instead of sitting on top of them. That is why a dye-sublimated flag keeps its colour through seasons of outdoor UV, wash after wash. A true double-sided flag is not one thick piece of fabric. It is two printed layers with a light-blocking liner between them, so the reverse reads correctly instead of showing a mirrored image. Single-layer flags are printed on both sides for full colour, with a mirrored back. Every edge is folded over and double-stitched for strength. The hoist side gets a reinforced header band - white on most designs - fitted with metal grommets, or a rope and toggle where the display hardware needs one. Sleeve tops, pole pockets and antennae slots are sewn to match the display system the flag will fly on.

Before packing, each flag is checked against the approved proof - colour, finishing and size. All our fabrics are flame retardant and certificates are available on request. Flags are then folded, bagged and dispatched with a tracked courier; within Australia delivery takes 2 to 3 working days after production, and international options are available at checkout.

What artwork file should I supply for a custom flag?

Vector files (AI, EPS or PDF) are ideal because they stay sharp at any flag size. High-resolution JPG or PNG files also work if they are large enough for the finished dimensions. How long until my custom flag arrives?

Production begins as soon as your artwork proof is approved. Within Australia the estimated delivery time is 2 to 3 working days once production is complete, delivered between 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday. Full timeframes are on our delivery page.

Will my flag read correctly on the back?
